How often will you see a huge ruinous castle in the middle of a town? Well in Caerphilly you can. The largest castle in Wales this really does dominate the area and looms in the background.



It’s a beautiful walk, you can see the original walls from all angles and the grassy area and moat provides. There will be lots of ducks and geese around too. It’s around a 20 minute circumference walk around the walls and it’s very enjoyable

The ruins themselves are very impressive. Huge thick stone walls, windows with slots in, drawbridge, flags. This really gives an idea of what life would have been like here in the past.
