An animal coffeeshop is not a new concept, in Shenzhen or any other place. In fact Shenzhen has several of these, some of them well worth visiting. But Mini Monsters is a new style of coffeeshop to hit this city. It is a ‘rodent café’. The idea is the same as a cat café, in which you can have a tea or coffee, whilst looking or playing with various animals, this time it being rodents. The animals include rabbits, guinea pigs, minks, squirrels and the star of the show the racoon. As far as coffee shop experiences go sipping a latte while playing with a weasel is a unique experience.
The seating is quite comfortable, and as you would expect with a place like this it has good lighting and it is very photogenic. The animals are well cared for with clean tanks and lots of space to run around in.
You can hold some of the animals if you wish, provided you do not disturb them too much, staff will gladly assist you with this.
The coffee was pretty average in taste and size, and the price for a latte at 38 RMB is high. There is also a 30 RMB fee to enter. But considering the costs involved in feeding and cleaning it is an acceptable charge.
